Hi Morgan
We did have an instructor or two that did as you say - charge for every brifeing. It also sometimes comes down to who does the paperwork as well. On the weekend it's volunteers, and some are better at knowing what goes on than others. The way it's supposed to be is we break the day into 1½ hour sessions. You fly for 1 hour and the pre & post flight briefings make up the other time and are included. Any extended briefings - ie a slot where you don't fly, is charged as we have to pay the instructor anyway.

Hi ArrowPilot, at the time I wanted to fly so bad and i was struggling financially but I still made ends meet somehow, and the thing is the instructor at the time was charging me for every single thing. All the other schools were giving me briefings for free, but at schoies i was charged 55 or 60 bucks or whatever it was at the time and I was quite stunned. Then the instructor said as I progress more and more he might end up not charging for the briefs because it will be quick or some nonsense. However when I did the PPL theory course, I was talking to other schoies students and they say u don't charge for briefings, its supposed to be free so I felt ripped off in a way. This was probably a couple of years ago. I got nothing against schofields, I still did the PPL theory course there and I constantly check if you guys have any CPL courses running.

Hi guys. It's good to see a couple of Schoies people around. Morgan, why didn't you do your entire PPL at the club? I ask as I'm on the board.

Hi Peter and Blackhart, I fly out of YSBK too but havent flown for about 6 months because I need the money to go elsewhere like renovations and a family holiday but hoping to get back into it soon. I did my TIF over at schofields a while ago and they had a good PPL theory course which helped me pass the exam. I fly at pacific and I'm a warrior man.

Gday Peter / Morgan. I am Bankstown based flying a PA31. I travel a bit around the country but have spent most of the last 5 years based in YSBK. I work closely with a bunch of maitenance guys so I'd be happy to help if anyone has any mechanical queries.
